Turkey
Service

AMEC controls product quality by using a bank of suppliers that has been approved, audited and meets the standards required by our customers.

Our equipment includes about 20 modern, high-tech, fully-automated CNC machines (4- to 5-axis), which offer customers a large production capacity and competitive delivery times.

Our Story

2000’s

Fast Growth

In September 2000, AMEC Usinage acquired a 3,600 square foot building, followed very quickly by a 1,500 square foot expansion, in order to boost production capacity.

In the spring of 2004, the shareholders chose to put a management team in place to support day-to-day activities in addition to overseeing future growth.

Also at this time, and in order to capture a greater share of the market, AMEC Usinage acquired a competitor: Atelier BG. In addition to increasing AMEC Usinage’s visibility, this acquisition helped increase production yet again.

Since June 2004, AMEC Usinage has been operating our 20,000 square foot facilities.

2020’s

Today

The arrival of two new shareholders is injecting new energy into the management team. Geneviève Paré, Director of Business Development and Organizational Development and Eric Morin, Director of Operations, officially become shareholders in July 2020.

In the midst of a pandemic, AMEC won the largest contract in our history with a mandate to produce all the machined components of the new artificial respirator for one of our Montreal customers, CAE. In order to serve our new customers well, AMEC invested nearly $1M in additional state-of-the-art equipment.

In March 2021 AMEC won STIQ’s AGILITY 2020 Manufacturing Grand Prize for our achievements and innovation during a pandemic.

Today, the company has a strong management team, qualified, experienced and motivated employees, as well as some of the most modern production equipment in the world. All of this will help it continue to grow according to the founders’ original vision, for the benefit of customers.

1990’s

Founding AMEC

Even before AMEC Usinage was founded in 1995, François Doyon and Christian Beaulieu, the two mechanical engineering graduates behind the company, shared a common vision to mass-produce precision parts.

To fulfill their business vision, they assembled a team of professionals who were both competent and passionate about the field of machining.

During the company’s first few months of existence, employees were busy repairing individual parts by machining processes and working out of a small rented space in Québec City.

AMEC Usinage eventually came closer to the founders’ original vision from 1997 to 1999 with the acquisition of digital control machines, thanks to which the level of expertise to machine precision parts in series continued to grow.

2010’s

Becoming State-of-the-Art

In 2010, AMEC won the performance award for continuous improvement in our production from Sous-Traitance Industrielle Québec (STIQ), a regional subcontracting association.

In response to business growth and aging machinery, AMEC invested $1.8 million in cutting-edge machinery. AMEC then owned 18 CNC machines, employed 54 people and operated 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday and 12 hours a day on weekends. AMEC posted sales of $4.5 million.

In 2014, the company obtained certification under the AS9100 aerospace standard. AMEC was the first company in the Quebec City region to participate in the MACH initiative (an aeronautical performance label managed by AERO Montreal since 2011).

AMEC was rewarded for our efforts and won the Gilles Demers SME of the Year award in 2016 as part of the MACH initiative.

In 2017, the company conducted a second international recruitment mission in Brazil and recruited four new experienced Brazilian foreign workers.

IN 2018, AMEC was awarded the MACH 4 maturity label and is one of the smallest companies in Quebec to achieve this level of excellence.
