AMEC is enhancing its French language training program and achieving better learning outcomes in French among its foreign workers.
Recognizing that learning French is one of the most important factors for the successful integration and retention of foreign workers within the company, AMEC launched, over a year ago, the development of a more comprehensive and tailored French training program in collaboration with the Service aux entreprises des Découvreurs, du Comité Sectoriel PERFORM et du Centre d’éducation des adultes Le Phenix.
An Improved French Language Program
AMEC now offers complete French language training in the workplace for its foreign workers. The program includes writing and communication modules to help them integrate successfully in Québec and meet immigration requirements for obtaining their CSQ and permanent residency more quickly. It also includes training in language and expressions that are unique to Québec. The program further incorporates job-specific vocabulary and terminology used in their trades.
The training is more complete and directly adapted to the workers’ professional language needs. This greatly facilitates communication with their Québécois colleagues, who—although they speak French—use many region-specific expressions found only in Québec.
This enhanced program was rolled out with AMEC’s four most recent foreign workers, who arrived from Costa Rica in September 2023. The success of the program has been remarkable. The employees are progressing at a pace never seen before within the company, leading to faster and smoother integration with their coworkers. Witnessing their rapid advancement in learning both French and Québécois expressions, the workers feel highly encouraged, motivated, and happy with the process.

Today?
This initiative marks a significant improvement in AMEC’s recruitment and integration process for foreign workers. Since 2015, the company has welcomed, supported, and guided more than fifteen temporary foreign workers and their families.
To this day, AMEC continues to employ and recruit workers from various countries, including Tunisia, Brazil, Colombia, and Costa Rica. Thanks to its comprehensive integration process and structured training program, immigrant employees can grow within the company by developing their skills, positioning themselves for future strategic roles, and building a long-term professional career plan in Québec.
A Team Effort with Trusted Strategic Partners
The success of AMEC’s international recruitment and integration would not be possible without the essential contributions of the partners mentioned above, as well as its long-standing strategic collaborators, including: Sterna Mobilité Internationnale (recruitment), Reloc Québec (intégration) et Immigration Michael Monfared (legal documentation, law, and immigration). Thank you to all of you!
Please note that the new subsidized French language program is now available to all Québec companies in the metal industry through the PERFORM Sectoral Committee. AMEC invites you to reach out for more information, including details and admission requirements.
