Even before AMEC Usinage was founded in 1995, François Doyon and Christian Beaulieu, the two mechanical engineering graduates behind the company, shared a common vision to mass-produce precision parts.
To fulfill their business vision, they assembled a team of professionals who were both competent and passionate about the field of machining.
During the company’s first few months of existence, employees were busy repairing individual parts by machining processes and working out of a small rented space in Québec City.
AMEC Usinage eventually came closer to the founders’ original vision from 1997 to 1999 with the acquisition of digital control machines, thanks to which the level of expertise to machine precision parts in series continued to grow.

In response to business growth and aging machinery, AMEC invested $1.8 million in cutting-edge machinery. AMEC then owned 18 CNC machines, employed 54 people and operated 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday and 12 hours a day on weekends. AMEC posted sales of $4.5 million.
In 2014, the company obtained certification under the AS9100 aerospace standard. AMEC was the first company in the Quebec City region to participate in the MACH initiative (an aeronautical performance label managed by AERO Montreal since 2011).
AMEC was rewarded for our efforts and won the Gilles Demers SME of the Year award in 2016 as part of the MACH initiative.
In 2017, the company conducted a second international recruitment mission in Brazil and recruited four new experienced Brazilian foreign workers.
IN 2018, AMEC was awarded the MACH 4 maturity label and is one of the smallest companies in Quebec to achieve this level of excellence.
